STANDARDIZATION OF HORMONE AND
VETERINARY DRUG RESIDUE ANALYSIS IN ANIMAL
PRODUCTS
Scientific Support Plan for a Sustainable Development Policy.
Standards for Foodproducts.
Introduction
This site presents a critical inventory of methods available for
the analysis of residues for growth promoters (steroidal anabolic
hormones, beta-agonists and glucocorticoids) and veterinary drugs
(antibiotics and growth inhibitors), which are or will be regulated
by the European Regulations Directives and Decisions. This inventory
is organized under the form of data banks, accessible through this
Internet site.
These data banks were developped by the Laboratory
of Food Analysis (Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University
of Ghent, Belgium) and the Laboratory of
Analysis of Foodstuffs from Animal Origin (Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Department of Food Sciences, University of Liège,
Belgium) with the collaboration of the Institute for Veterinary
Inspection of the Belgian Ministry of Public Health. The building of
this site was done by the CEMU
(Center of Multimedia, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of
Liège, Belgium).
- The project was financially supported by the Belgian State,
Services of the Prime Minister, Federal Office for Scientific,
Technical and Cultural Affairs (OSTC),
with the research contract Nr. NP/DD/001.
-
These data banks contain the following information:
- A compilation of chemical information about the residues found
in foodstuffs of animal origin [Molecule Database]
- An inventory of the European and Belgian legislation with
regard to residues in animal products [Legislation]
- Qualitative and quantitative data about the monitoring
programs by the Institute for Veterinary Inspection of the Belgian
Ministry of Public Health and by the Ministry of Agriculture
[Monitoring Programs]
- A compilation of toxicological data as to consumers health
[Molecule Database]
- A list of available reference materials and specific reagents
(antisera, immunoassay kits, immuno affinity reagents, radioactive
and other tracers,...) [Molecule Database]
